What type of 3D printer does my team need for this competition?
This competition will require you to create 3D printed parts. There are many different types of 3D printers. This competition requires each team to use Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printer. It is a fancy term for a printer that takes a spool of filament and extruder it to create a part.
FDM printing is the most common consumer printing technology. We don’t accept using a Stereo-lithography (SLA) printer. An SLA printer uses a liquid resin and a ultraviolet light source to cure the resin into the finished product. These types of prints can have better detail, but are not rugged enough for mechanical parts.
